Oil Pump & seal
The oil pump supplies the engine oil to the components in the engine block. The oil pump is mounted at the bottom of the engine block and, if the engine is not equipped with a dry-sump system, often hangs partly or completely in the sump pan. The pump will turn internally and suck the oil out of the sump pan.
An oil seal has a strong outer edge with a flexible rounding in the middle and therefore a thin spring that together provide the seal. oil seals have a hard time. Think of the fluctuating temperature differences from inside and outside the engine.
