Exhaust systems

The exhaust system is responsible for expelling exhaust gases generated during engine combustion. Once the gases leave the engine cylinder, they pass directly into the exhaust system via the exhaust manifold, sometimes through a turbocharger. The exhaust ensures these gases are safely directed out of the rear of the vehicle.

An exhaust has multiple functions. It not only serves to expel exhaust gases but also provides sound dampening. The catalytic converter in the exhaust converts harmful gases into less harmful ones. In diesel cars, the exhaust also contains a particulate filter that captures harmful particles.
