The clutch connects the car's engine to the gearbox, which in turn transfers power to the car's wheels. The clutch consists of 2 plates with a pressure group. The pressure group ensures that the plates are pressed against each other so that the clutch plates do not slip.
The clutch ensures that you can stand still with the engine running and that you can change gears without the engine stalling. The clutch plate is a very important part of the clutch. This round plate is located between the flywheel and the pressure group and is connected to the gearbox. In the middle of the pressure group are the so-called pressure fingers. These act like springs. When you press the clutch pedal, you press the bearing against these springs, due to the leverage, the pressure group is pulled back slightly and the clutch plate is released exactly. As a result, the drive is (temporarily) broken. As soon as you release the clutch again, contact is made and you can drive.
