The wheel bearings perform their task invisibly in a car, which is why they are hardly valued. However, they do a good job and are indispensable, because they form the connection between the permanently mounted axle suspension and the rotating wheel. Wheel bearings are rolling bearings and always consist of an inner and outer ring between which the rolling elements lie. These can be balls, needles or cones – and differ in both their rolling resistance and maximum load. Wheel bearings and therefore also the rolling elements must ultimately absorb almost the entire vehicle weight and still run as freely as possible. This is the only way in which the car can be propelled optimally.
